PHT English Courses

Due to its global impact and the way it improves job hunting opportunities for UC postgraduates, learning a second language is an essential part of doctoral training.

This is why our UC School of Graduates, in alliance with English UC, offers a free-of-charge English language program for the student body.

The first step to determine the English level of proficiency in doctoral students is a diagnostic test called Versant English Placement Test (CPD0100), which evaluates all four language communicative skills. This way, students are divided into groups where their training is homogenous according to their current level of proficiency.

In addition, the students who finish the program will be able to take, free of charge, the IELTS test (International English Language Testing System). This examination is certified internationally and recognized by the UC, and it is imparted by English UC to the School of Graduates.

This English program is available free of charge to postgraduate students of UC and it includes the following levels:

CPD 1000: Elementary English 1
CPD 2000: Elementary English 2
CPD 3000: Lower Intermediate English 1
CPD 4000: Lower Intermediate English 2
CPD 5000: Upper Intermediate English 1
CPD 6000: Upper Intermediate English 2
CPD 7000: Advanced English 1

In the case that a student has a prior international certification, they will be able to validate some or the entire content of the program, depending on the requirements determined by our School.
