Research infrastructure

Our university has state of the art laboratories, centers of excellence, libraries and resources that facilitate the development of high-level research.


The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile has:

  • 11 libraries
  • +200 laboratories
  • 1 Innovation Center

Regional Centers and Stations

The RCER are research and work centers or stations aim to strengthen interdisciplinary work between students and researchers. They also promote the training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in different parts of Chile -as they are located in deserts, glaciers, the ocean and wilderness-, seeking to expand the development and research opportunities of our students.

Centers of Excellence

As part of the development plan, the University is committed in providing training of excellence that is focused on new knowledge. To facilitate research, we have 22 centers of excellence seeking to be a constant contribution to the country through the social, technological and scientific development.

UC Innovation Center

The center is a link between the University and the national industrial ecosystem, a space created to promote culture and an environment for innovation and entrepreneurship whilst promoting networking, collaboration and future projects.

Libraries

The UC Library system is composed of 11 libraries distributed throughout the campuses, providing our student body with relevant information for their doctoral training. The staff members offer assistance to researchers, ranging from article search guidance to workshops on plagiarism, citation standards and other topics of interest.

UC Campus

Our campuses are located not only at Chile’s capital city, but also in the South of our country. In Santiago, we have the headquarters of the University, also called “Casa Central”, and the branches of Lo Contador, Oriente and San Joaquín. Our branch in the South is “Campus Villarrica”, located in the region of Araucanía.

Graduate School

The Graduate School has the mission of ensuring the strategic and comprehensive development of the University's doctoral training. We contribute to the design and implementation of policies and mechanisms that, together with academic units, ensure the quality of UC doctoral programs, and promote the training of autonomous and excellent researchers and researchers.
