Cardenal Newman Award 2019


Objective

The Directorate of Pastoral and Christian Culture in conjunction with the Graduate School of the Vice-rectory for Research UC, call to apply for the Cardinal Newman Prize. The objective of this initiative is to recognize and stimulate the research carried out by the students of the different doctoral programs that put their discipline and studies in dialogue with the Faith, through the completion of theses that contribute significantly to the mission of the University of evangelizing the culture.

Requirements

Profile: All students of the UC doctoral programs, who are about to start their doctoral thesis, or with a maximum stay in the program of up to 6 semesters, can participate.

Benefits

1.- A single and total amount of $ 500,000 will be assigned to each winner per area.

2.- A prize will be awarded for each area, according to the following classification, any of which may be declared deserted:

  • Science and Engineering
  • Social Sciences
  • Arts and Humanities

3.- Once the theses of the winners have been finalized, a short article about them will be published at www.pastoral.uc.cl and at www.doctorados.uc.cl. In addition, those who are awarded will have the possibility to present an article for Dialogues magazine, in its printed and/or web versions.

4.- Finally, you will be able to opt for the “Cardinal Newman Award”, which will be presented at the Annual Doctorate Ceremony. This recognition consists of an additional award of a single and total amount of $ 500,000.- for the best thesis among those who graduate each year, and who has won in a previous version of the Award.
