With more than 90 years of experience in doctoral education, the university has built an excellent research ecosystem. To date, it has trained more than 3,500 researchers since the creation of its first program in 1935. In 2025 alone, 267 new PhDs graduated, marking the largest annual cohort in the institution´s history and representing a milestone at the national level.
The UC has all its 39 programs accredited by the CNA-Chile, with an average of 6 years of accreditation, the highest at the national level. In addition, the university has maintained its leadership in funding, securing the highest number of ANID grants for the 11th consecutive year, which enables more tan 90% of its doctoral students to pursue their studies with full funding. Currently, the doctoral system at the UC has 1.478 students, with 42% women and 58% men, and 25% international students; a community that reflects the institution’s global character, backed by 162 joint double-degree programs launched over the past decade and new partnerships with world-class universities.
On days 24, 25, and 26 of July, the Graduate School of the Vice Rector’s Office for Research and Postgraduate Studies of the UC will hold an Open House 2026, a completely virtual event open to all who want to pursue PhD studies.
The opening day will take place on Wednesday, June 24, with the “Open House Welcome” webinar led by the director of the Graduate School, Diego Cosmelli, who will present the research ecosystem at the UC, the structure of the PhD programs, the available scholarships, and other key aspects of doctoral studies at the university.
On Thursday, 25, and Friday, 26, there will be informational sessions on the various PhD programs, opportunities to meet with academics and current students, and counseling sessions to address questions about programs, research areas, and training opportunities.
