Program Description
Given its international character, the Doctoral Program in Plant Biotechnology will be taught in English, making it the first doctoral program with such a characteristic dependent on the Faculty of Agronomy and Forestry Engineering and the Faculty of Biological Sciences Pontificia Universidad Católica. Students will be able to do their internships at the University of Bordeaux and will have the possibility of opting for a double degree with the University of Bordeaux. Students from the University of Bordeaux will also be received to carry out internships at our university.
Accreditation
Program accredited by CNA-Chile for three years until November 2022.
Program Objectives
The objective of the program is to train highly competent Doctoral Programs in the area of Plant Biotechnology, with a solid background in agronomic and biotechnological applications, able to address various problems of the agricultural and forestry sector of the country, proposing innovative solutions, as well as to disseminate in society their activities and knowledge associated with achieving the incorporation of new technologies for the improvement of plant species or production processes related to biological processes carried out in plants, algae, fungi, among others.
Learning Outcomes
Graduates will have advanced knowledge in Plant Biotechnology, with autonomy, critical capacity, and ethical responsibility to propose, develop and lead original research projects in plant natural resources, oriented to the search for solutions to social problems and optimizations in the Chilean agricultural and forestry sector. The Doctoral Program graduates of this program will also be able to lead projects and solve problems at an international level, which will be enhanced by obtaining a dual degree with the University of Bordeaux.
